World famous in New Zealand Classic Bike racing circles, we take great pride in the fact that we compete and earn prestigious class wins at the Burt Munro Challenge and in the NZCMRR Classic Bike racing events like Hampton Downs.
At the 10th Anniversary Burt Munro Challenge, November 2015, a historic 1-2-3 clean sweep of the Pre ‘63 (with girder forks) Class with our stable of Racing Velocettes. From Pukekohe to the Burt Munro, we’ve raced in all New Zealand’s premier NZCMRR events from Auckland to Bluff from 1984–2015, and in 2014 took Les Diener’s Lightweight 250 Special Eldee-2 to the Isle of Man for Bill Swallow to whistle round the mountain course in the Junior Race. Our race victories and class wins at home affirm our team of enthusiasts’ approach of preparing the bikes to a standard, and enjoying the ride and cameraderie of Classic Racing. The competitiveness of the bikes is a credit to our highly skilled team, the value we place and passion we share for keeping these beautiful, spirited classic bikes racing, not gathering dust. DOUBTLESS THE VELOCETTE Racing NZ stable is one of the greatest collections of Classic Velocette British racers. From New Zealand’s most successful racing motorcycle, the Big Velo, the rare, second works 500 developed at Velocette’s Hall Green factory in the 30’s, through illustrious production racer KTT’s, and Eldee 2 —the VRNZ stable keeps 30 years of classic Velos racing. While the innovation legend continues with the likes of the Eldee-2 Isle of Man Classic TT development project and many other development projects of smaller scope for Velos and other racers. Our enthusiasm for Classic racing is spirited and inclusive, it runs to all the formidable marques competing in the NZCMRR. VRNZ has and will continue to reciprocate collegial support with enthusiasts of Classic sporting motorcycles.
